This weekend saw the last open beta of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, an upcoming first person shooter game by Infinity Ward. Ahead of its launch on October 25th, the developers hosted a free-to-play open beta session to test out the game and give players a taste of the action. As expected, there were several issues with the gameplay, but none were as annoying as the broken spawn system.

Over on the Modern Warfare subreddit, players have been busy sharing both positive and negative feedback about the game. The community has uploaded several clips highlighting the broken and inconsistent spawn mechanic. Some players are spawning very close to groups of enemies, whilst others are falling to their death right after spawning.

Fortunately, Infinity Ward has recognized the “funkiness” and are giving the spawn system a look before the game’s launch next month. The main objective of these open beta sessions is to identify all such bugs and issues.

“Spawning is currently inconsistent on some maps, so thank you for sharing your videos with us and sharing your feedback,” writes Infinity Ward. “We’ll continue to monitor the spawn system and we’ll update you if we deploy any changes.”

In addition to the spawning system, the developers are also working to improve visibility in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

“We will also be looking into lighting and exposure on various areas of the map, such as how you view dark rooms from the outside of a building and vice versa, for example.”

A number of other minor and major bugs have been spotted, such as FOV slider reverting to default and issues with the in-game party system.

With the last public play test concluded, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is only a month away from release. Infinity Ward is also planning to share a campaign premiere at the end of this month.
