Apex Legends season 2 is just around the corner, and there’s still a lot we don’t know. While developer Respawn has shared numerous details, including a reveal of the new playable character Wattson, there are quite a few changes and additions yet to be announced. However, thanks to the numerous teasers and certain in-game events, eagle-eyed fans have managed to connect the dots and paint a pretty good picture of season 2.

Kings Canyon

First up on the list of unannounced yet highly anticipated changes is the new Kings Canyon. With season 2, Apex Legends’ first and only playable map is receiving major changes, at least that’s what fans think.

If you’ve played the game in the past few days, you’ve definitely seen the flying loot-stealing monsters roaming the map.  Peaceful for now, these “flyers” pick up death boxes and fly away. Apart from this and Pathfinder’s ability to grapple onto them, flyers don’t seem to have any other purpose. However, judging from Respawn’s past actions, the flyers are likely a teaser for something bigger coming in season 2.

While we don’t know exactly what’s changing, the Apex Legends subreddit seems to have a pretty good idea. According to Redditors That1MiningGuy and FrozenFroh, massive events are about to unfold. The theory states that Crypto, a rumored upcoming playable character, will ‘hack’ Repulsor, allowing the Leviathan sea creatures to stroll onto the map. Supposedly named ‘Rosie’, this massive four-legged beast has been coming closer and closer to Kings Canyon.

Putting all of this together, it looks like the alien wildlife will play a major role in season 2. Some players speculate that the flyers and leviathans will be ride-able. All in all, it’s a pretty interesting theory, and while unconfirmed by the developers, it’s certainly very exciting.

Battle Pass

The first iteration of Apex Legends’ battle pass was unable to live up to the hype. The cosmetics were underwhelming, and the few legendary skins were nothing special. Fortunately, Respawn listened to its community and promised better cosmetics. Now, the upcoming season 2 battle pass will improve upon the original and bring better, more prettier skins.

Sticking to the pre-existing pricing, the season 2 basic battle pass will cost 950 Apex Coins, roughly $10. Alternatively, players can purchase the premium battle pass for 2800 Apex Coins, which will advance them roughly 25 levels.

Apex Legends’ second post-launch playable character is the Static Defender named Wattson. Her abilities primarily focus on locking down areas and assisting teammates with the help of electrical gadgets. We’ve covered already Wattson in detail here, but here’s a quick recap.

Perimeter Security, her tactical ability, allows her to place electrical fences which hurt and slow enemies passing through. Her passive ability Spark of Genius gives her the ability to gain 100% ultimate charge from one ultimate accelerant. Wattson’s ultimate is the Interception Pylon, a two-in-one deployable device which not only neutralizes ordnance, but also repairs friendly shields in its range.

Gunplay is one of Apex Legends’ core features, which is why its also Respawn’s top priority. Alongside a new gun called the L-Star, season 2 will introduce two new hop-ups, a new attachment, and changes arc stars.

The two hop-ups, Hammerpoint Rounds and Disruptor Rounds, increase damage dealt to unshielded and shielded targets, respectively. They’re attachable on low-tier weapons such as the Mozambique, P2020, Alternator, and the RE-45.

Additionally, the new Energy Mags attachment increase magazine capacity while also decreasing reload time. They’re attachable on the Havoc, Devotion, and Triple Take.

Apex Legends season 2 launches July 2nd on all platforms.
